Biography

Katrine Maria Eponine Strøm (born 1977) is a stage artist educated in Copenhagen and at the Norwegian Theatre Academy in Fredrikstad. So far, the highlights in her career are the ”Wonder Chamber”, an experimental labyrinth for children, the Norwegian-Icelandic project "Silent Island", the children's performance "Sugar Circus" and the performances "Exit:alice", "Stille Støy " and "Vifterumpe". She is presently working to develop "Rust", "Not for sale" and "Fjærplytan", planned to premiere at The Arts Festival of North Norway 2008 where she is this years festival artist.

She is continuously expanding her net of contacts outside Norway, and has participated in several larger international collaborations, with artists from Mexico, Italy, Faroe Islands and Iceland.

She has also participated in several international theatre festivals with her productions, in Lithuania, Russia and India among others. In April 2006, “Marja Gullsko” participated in “Golden Keys” in Petrozavodsk in Russia. It was awarded ‘best performance’ of the festival.

For many years, she has worked with and alongside children and young people. With TK'81 she has produced twelve children's performances with as much as 55 actors on stage. For this work with children and young people, Katrine received the annual Prize for Culture in Andøy municipality in 2003.

Katrine has published five books. The latest came out in 2005, a book containing texts about things you can do when there is nothing to do called "Handbook in first aid against boredom".
