Biography

Katrine Maria Eponine Strøm received "Danse- og teatersentrums Scenekunstpris 2008" for her work, creating groundbreaking visual performances for children and youth.

She was in 2008 the youngest Artist in residence at The arts festival in Northern Norway where she presented the performances Rust, Wonder Chamber and Not for sale.

So far, the highlights in her career are "Rust", about the longing for being a beloved child, ”Wonder Chamber”, an experimental labyrinth for children, "Usynlig"- a site spesific performance in the library of Tromsø, the Norwegian-Icelandic project "Silent Island", and the children's performance "Sugar Circus". She is presently working to develop "Usynlig” planned to premiere in Tromsø autumn 2009.

She is continuously expanding her net of contacts outside Norway, and has participated in several larger international collaborations, with artists from Mexico, Italy, Sweden, Faroe Islands and Iceland. In January 2010 she is going to Iceland to start a collaboration with artists from Iceland and Ireland.

She has also participated in several international theatre festivals with her productions, in Lithuania, Russia and India among others. In April 2006, “Marja Gullsko” participated in “Golden Keys” in Petrozavodsk in Russia. It was awarded ‘best performance’ of the festival.

For many years, she has worked with and alongside children and young people. With TK'81 she has produced twelve children's performances with as much as 55 actors on stage. For this work with children and young people, Katrine received the annual Prize for Culture in Andøy municipality in 2003.

Katrine has published five books. The latest in 2005, a book containing texts about things you can do when there is nothing to do called "Handbook in first aid against boredom".
